lesson -cell structure n function ( POST 2)

Image
Good morning boys! In the last class we learnt that- . Cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life. .Depending on the number of cells , organisms can be grouped as unicellular or multicellular. . The size of a cell is related to its functions. LEARNING OUT COMES- By the end of this class you will be able to- .name the three basic parts of a cell and state their functions .distinguish between a eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell Today we are going to learn about CELL STRUCTURE .a A typical cell consists of three basic parts : 1 .  CELL MEMBRANE OR PLASMA MEMBRANE - . It forms the outer boundary of the cell, gives shape and size  to the cell. . It only allows certain selected substances to enter or leave the cell ( it is semi-permeable ). . It separates the cells from one another  and also from the surrounding medium. NOTE - In PLANT CELLS and BACTERIA there is an outer wall surrounding the cell membrane ,it is called the CELL WALL. It gives protection again

Good morning boys! In the last class you learnt that- . A cell has three main parts -cell membrane ( an additional cell wall in plant cells) , cytoplasm and nucleus. . Cell organelles are present in the cytoplasm. . The nucleus is the control centre of the cell . . Chromosomes present in the nucleus are hereditary vehicles. LEARNING OUTCOMES By the end of the lesson you will be able to- .name the cell organelles and state their functions .distinguish between plant and animal cells .name the three kinds of plastids and state their functions Today you will learn about CELL ORGANELLES present in the cytoplasm and their functions. The different cell organelles and their functions are - 1. MITOCHONDRIA ( power house of the cell )- produces energy from the food during respiration. 2. ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM- helps to transport substances in the cell. 3. RIBOSOMES-  help in protein synthesis. 4. GOLGI BODIES - synthesise ,store and secrete many substances. 5. VACULOES- are

Good morning boys ! In the last class we learnt about the functions of cell organelles and the differences between plants and animal cells. As a quick recap, see if you can answer the following questions- 1. Name two cell organelles that are found only in plant cells. 2. Which organelle is called the power house of the cell? 3. Which plastids give colour to fruits and flowers? 4. Which cell organelles help in cellular digestion? Great if you could answer these! Incase you could not ,please revisit the last blog or pages 131 of your reader.  LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS CLASS- By the end of the lesson you will be able to- . name unicellular organisms .list the identifying features of some unicellular organisms like amoeba, paramecium etc Today we are going to learn about single celled or unicellular organisms that can perform all basic activities of life and live independently. 1.  AMOEBA It is an unicellular aquatic animal, that is irregular in shape and has

cell structure and functions (POST 1)

Good morning boys! Welcome to the first class of science. The lesson we are going to study is  - CELL-STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONS. You have learnt in your earlier classes that . CELL is the basic structural and functional unit of life. LEARNING OUTCOMES OF THIS CLASS By the end of this lesson you will be able to- .name the scientist who discovered cell. .distinguish between unicellular and multicellular organisms .give examples of unicellular and multicellular organisms  All livings things are made up of cells that are so tiny that they can only be seen under a microscope. Cell was discovered by ROBERT HOOKE,when he was observing thin slices of cork under a microscope. A single cell is capable of performing all biological activities in any living organism. DEPENING ON THE NUMBER OF CELLS ORGANISMS CAN BE GROUPED AS FOLLOWS- # UNICELLULAR ORGANIMS - These are organisms that consist of only one cell . Example, amoeba # MULTICELLULAR ORGANISMS- These are organisms that consi
