lesson-cell structure and functions (POST 3 )

Good morning boys!
In the last class you learnt that-
. A cell has three main parts -cell membrane ( an additional cell wall in plant cells) , cytoplasm and nucleus.
. Cell organelles are present in the cytoplasm.
. The nucleus is the control centre of the cell .
. Chromosomes present in the nucleus are hereditary vehicles.

 LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the lesson you will be able to-
.name the cell organelles and state their functions
.distinguish between plant and animal cells
.name the three kinds of plastids and state their functions

 Today you will learn about CELL ORGANELLES present in the cytoplasm and their functions.

 The different cell organelles and their functions are -
1. MITOCHONDRIA ( power house of the cell )- produces energy from the food during respiration.
2. ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM- helps to transport substances in the cell.
3. RIBOSOMES-  help in protein synthesis.

4. GOLGI BODIES - synthesise ,store and secrete many substances.
5. VACULOES- are sac like structures  that store soluble food,wastes and secretions of the cell dissolved in water as cell sap.


6. LYSOSOMES ( suicidal bags ) - help in cellular digestion.( only in animal cells )\
7. CENTROSOMES - play a role in the reproduction of cells ( only in animal cells )
8. PLASTIDS - are only present in plant cells.
