MICRORORGANISMS -POST 3

Welcome to todays class✌

Let's Dive In💦

Diseases which get transmitted from one person to another by direct or indirect contact are called communicable diseases or infectious diseases.

The different ways/modes of transmission of a disease include:

DIRECT TRANSMISSION THROUGH
Direct contact

Droplet infection

Infected needle/syringe

           skin to skin

       during coughing, sneezing, spitting

       by blood transfusion, bite
       mucosa to skin
       eg. Leprosy, conjunctivitis

       eg. tuberculosis, whopping cough

       eg. rabies - dog bite,
Aids - blood

                                INDIRECT TRANSMISSION THROUGH
Infected food and water
A carrier like rat, fly etc.
Dirty/infected clothes
Dirty hands

Did you know that the common fly and the mosquito cause so many diseases!!!!!!

Mosquito incognito: Could graphene-lined clothing prevent mosquito ...The mosquito is a carrier of many diseases. I'm sure you have heard of malaria, dengue and chikungunya.
It is the female Anopheles mosquito that is the vector for Malaria.
The female Aedes mosquito is the vector for the Dengue virus. The male mosquito feeds on nectar and other foods😍

These interesting videos will tell you about how does the mosquito infect a human being.

In a nutshell, when the female anopheles mosquito bites an infected person
  • it sucks the infected blood into its stomach
  • here the disease microorganism multiplies and
  • when the same mosquito bites a healthy person ...
  • the disease causing microorganism is transmitted through it infected saliva.
In order to protect yourself from a mosquito bite you should :
  • not have smelly feet😋 to attract it
  • not let water lie stagnant for mosquitoes to breed in.
  • take a bath regularly and wear clean clothes that cover your body.

FLY AWAY YOU HORRIBLE FLY

The household fly does not bite or sting, but is responsible for the spread of many horrible diseases in our world. It's sticky and hairy feet help microorganisms to hold onto to. When the fly moves from a dirty place like sewage water or excreta or ewww... and the sits on foodstuff, it transfers the pathogens on its surface. When we eat this contaminates food we fall sick😡

The video will show you 5 diseases caused by the common fly.
